Harriet Boothman

AGEC Director

Harriet is an experienced employment, workplace relations and safety lawyer with a particular professional interest in the intersect between gender equality and workplace matters. She is particularly experienced in undertaking complex workplace investigations into gender discrimination and sexual harassment complaints and advising businesses and Commonwealth agencies on best practice management of these issues.

Harriet was a committee member of the Women Lawyers Association of the ACT between January 2019 and October 2024 and served as Chair of the Policy subcommittee between 2019 and 2021. In that time, she organised and led the Women Lawyers ACT submission to the National Inquiry into Respect at Work and also acted as the Women Lawyers ACT co-representative on the ACT Law Society’s sexual harassment working group.

Harriet was elected as a Board member of Australian Women Lawyers Ltd in December 2021 and appointed Secretary in November 2022. In that role, Harriet led the Board’s submission to the development of the Australian Government’s national gender equality strategy and was also conference chair responsible for leading the delivery of the 2024 AWL conference on leadership and gender justice issues for 130 attendees.
