The Australian Gender Equality Council says the Federal Budget confirms the government’s commitment to gender equality and support for a national strategy, albeit modest. Funding initiatives include women’s health and medicines, gender based violence, underpaid care workers, paid parental leave and a number of important First Nations women’s priorities. Addressing many of the symptoms of gender inequality, AGEC remains disappointed that there is little funding to address the root causes of gender inequality and gender stereotypes.
