Preventing and Responding to Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: A New Approach?

March 1, 2022 @ 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

FREE for WiBF Members

In September, the Sex Discrimination and Fair Work (Respect at Work) Amendment Act 2021 (Cth) received assent. Described by some as a “missed opportunity”, it remains to be seen whether the Act will have any real impact on tackling the enduring high incidence of sexual harassment.
Ultimately, it is becoming increasingly clear that irrespective of the recent legislative amendments, employers should adopt a work health and safety approach to tackling sexual harassment.

In this 45-minute session, hear from Amber Sharp, Partner, McCullough Robertson about the changes, and what your organisation needs to do in response.
In this session, Amber will cover:
– A recap on the Respect@Work report
– Legislative reform: Sex Discrimination and Fair Work (Respect at Work) Amendment Bill 2021 (Cth) and Fair Work Amendment (Respect at Work) Regulations 2021 (Cth)
– Sexual harassment as a work health and safety issue
– Responding to complaints and reports.
