Build Boardroom Capability: Scaling for Start-Ups
June 24, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pmAUD99 – AUD132
WiBF invites members and their guests to register for a special event to introduce angel investing and Scale Investors as an avenue for WiBF members (particularly those in the Innovation marketplace) to know more about the benefits of angel investing and supporting female founded companies, and serving on the boards and advisory boards of early stage companies. Scale Investors is a network of angel investors, who connect with, invest in and mentor female, early stage entrepreneurs and start-ups with gender balanced leadership. Since launching in 2013, its community of over 100 HNW women and men has collectively invested $6.1m in 13 female led businesses. The program is divided into two sessions: Session One: Setting the scene with Scale CEO, Ariane Barker, on the how and why of investing in a Scale company and the expectations of board members in Scale companies followed by a panel discussion on the value of advisory boards in a start up / early stage company. Session Two: Three female founders will share their experiences followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
Participants are encouraged to reflect on the opportunities for angel investors and the role of boards or advisory boards of start-ups, and be prepared to ask questions of the panel in the Q&A session.
This event – in collaboration with Women on Boards and Scale Investors – is designed to build boardroom capability of WiBF members while facilitating networking with industry peers from diverse organisations.
