SUMMARY:EQUAL PAY DAY
DESCRIPTION:What is Equal Pay Day?\nEqual Pay Day marks the additional days from the end of the previous financial year that women must work\, on average\, to earn the same amount as men earned that year. In 2021\, 31 August was Equal Pay Day and so we are holding this date as a place marker for 2022 Equal Pay Day. \nEach year WGEA calculates the national gender pay gap and the date of Equal Pay Day using the latest Average Weekly Earnings seasonally adjusted data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). \nThe Facts of (Un)Equal Pay\nIn 2021 The national gender pay gap was 14.2%. On average\, women working full-time earned $1\,575.50 while men working full-time earned $1\,837.00.  Full-time average weekly earnings difference between women and men is $261.50. Let’s hope it improves for 2022! \nMore information on the Gender Pay Gap and what will happen in 2022\nWe will update this post when we know more in 2002. \nIn the meantime\, please see AGEC’s Resources page for information on the gender pay gap https://www.agec.org.au/resources/gender-pay-gap/. \nAlso the WGEA website has resources and tools on equal pay and addressing the gender pay gap in your workplace. https://www.wgea.gov.au/the-gender-pay-gap/equal-pay-day.  The Equal Pay Alliance website has information on Equal Pay Day\, the Alliance and Events https://www.equalpayday.com.au

SUMMARY:Finding Financial Freedom highlights with Carolyn Reid
DESCRIPTION:Against the backdrop of COVID-19\, and changes in Australia’s business\, retirement and health systems\, achieving financial autonomy has never been more complex. \nEven before COVID-19\, gender equality and the empowerment of women were topics of real discussion\, change and progression. As the pandemic continues to affect lives globally\, we are beginning to see how women are being disproportionately affected – threatening the progress society has made in recent years. \nGlobally\, women are 1.8 times more likely than men to have lost or quit their job. In combination with the gender pay gap\, the need and opportunity to address financial literacy could not be greater. \nAddressing financial autonomy – irrespective of gender – is now a commercial imperative for financial services. Why? Because financial independence is the dominant contributor to self-esteem. The impact of the pandemic has increased the need for Australians to make informed choices in life to be financially independent – especially where the opportunity to grow wealth for the future is challenged in a low-interest environment. \nPresenting exclusive research insights to the WIBF community\, Carolyn Reid will reveal an unparalleled state of the nation regarding Australian women and finance. This is some of the richest data of the Australian story through COVID-19 and beyond. Prepare for a big wake-up call and get ready for a new future of finance. \nIn this 45-minute session\, hear from Carolyn Reid\, Executive Director and Head of Qualitative at Kantar. She will cover:\n– The intrinsic and powerful link between financial autonomy and self-esteem\n– Why 4 in 10 women say they want to be more confident understanding finance\n– The gender difference between saving and investing – and why this matters\n– Why women are twice as likely to walk away from an unfulfilling relationship\n– Deeply human insights to guide the valuable role you can play in empowering the financial wellbeing and self-esteem of Australian women

SUMMARY:Inclusive Leadership with Serendis – 5 virtual\, interactive sessions
DESCRIPTION:How we define success in leadership is changing. To deliver innovation\, performance and productivity in an era of rapid change and complexity\, leaders must leverage diversity. However\, without inclusion\, the key benefits of diversity are lost. \nRather than delivering isolated initiatives that focus solely on enhancing demographic diversity\, there is powerful evidence for expanding our objective toward the development of an inclusive culture that will effectively leverage diversity of thought. \nIf you have been charged with leading people\, have been set diversity targets or KPIs linked to inclusion\, then this series will help you to understand what hinders change\, how to overcome barriers to embedding inclusion as a cultural mindset so you can deliver the best possible outcomes for your organisation. \nDelivered by our long term program partner Serendis\, who facilitate our universally acclaimed Mentoring for Success Program\, these 5 interactive hands-on sessions will drill down into how to really drive cultural change and highlight the key concepts and behaviours required to build an inclusive environment within your teams & organisation. \nYou will undertake a 360-degree survey that provides practical insights and unique recommendations to enhance your inclusive leadership. \nInclusive Leaderships covers:\nFrom fairness to performance: how to position D&I as an organisational strategic advantage\nDispelling myths and (re)-engaging the sceptics\n9 dimensions of inclusive leadership\nEvidence-based and practical behaviours that shape inclusive cultures\nInfluencing change at an organisational level\nHow to deliver measurable and sustainable change in leadership habits \nThe program runs over 5 sessions:\n2nd March – Introduction to Inclusion – 1pm to 3pm AEDT\n6th April – Inclusion360 Debrief – 1pm to 3pm AEDT\n28th April – Psychological Safety – 12pm to 1:30pm AEDT\n26th May – Radical Candour – 1pm to 2:30pm AEDT\n22nd June – Inclusive Culture Change Agent 1pm to 3pm AEDT

SUMMARY:Preventing and Responding to Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: A New Approach?
DESCRIPTION:In September\, the Sex Discrimination and Fair Work (Respect at Work) Amendment Act 2021 (Cth) received assent. Described by some as a “missed opportunity”\, it remains to be seen whether the Act will have any real impact on tackling the enduring high incidence of sexual harassment.\nUltimately\, it is becoming increasingly clear that irrespective of the recent legislative amendments\, employers should adopt a work health and safety approach to tackling sexual harassment. \nIn this 45-minute session\, hear from Amber Sharp\, Partner\, McCullough Robertson about the changes\, and what your organisation needs to do in response.\nIn this session\, Amber will cover:\n– A recap on the Respect@Work report\n– Legislative reform: Sex Discrimination and Fair Work (Respect at Work) Amendment Bill 2021 (Cth) and Fair Work Amendment (Respect at Work) Regulations 2021 (Cth)\n– Sexual harassment as a work health and safety issue\n– Responding to complaints and reports.

SUMMARY:Crunch time: How to make every decision count with Alena Bennett
DESCRIPTION:It’s simple – when it’s crunch time\, every decision counts. But it’s hard. Have you ever tried running around a race track\, then immediately come to complete standstill….on one foot? So much so\, that sometimes leaders suffer ‘paralysis by analysis’ as they tie themselves up in knots trying to make the right decision. \nIn this 45-minute session\, join Alena Bennett – speaker\, author\, mentor\, trainer & facilitator and executive coach for this interactive session where she will:\n– Provide you with the antidote for decision fatigue\n– Share with you why you don’t always get the results you expect (and give you tools to fix it!)\n– Tell you how to get people to listen when you talk\, and take action when you lead

SUMMARY:Cybersecurity Panel: Crucial Factors for Cyber Protection
DESCRIPTION:The pandemic has significantly increased Australian dependence on the internet\, making it virtually essential to operating in a ‘new normal’ that’s been sustained for over a year now; but what use is exciting and agile new infrastructure if it isn’t properly protected? \nThe Australian Cyber Security Centre found that 90% of organisations (surveyed) experienced at least one form of attempted or successful cyber attack in the previous year. \nOver the past financial year\, a cyberattack was reported to the ACSC every 8 minutes. The cost of cybercrime on the Australian economy has been quantified a staggering $33 billion in self-reported losses over the past year. \nThe Australian government’s Stay Smart online research indicates it can take between 23 to 51 days to resolve and continue normal business operations post an attack. \nIn this roundtable with a panel of security\, legal and financial services experts\, we’ll discuss the current status\, potential developments\, and challenges of modern cybersecurity in banking and finance. \nIn this 45-minute session\, hear from Caroline Pauley – Executive Director\, Institutional Banking at ANZ\, Will Ulyate – National Cyber Security\, Critical Infrastructure Manager at RIoT Solutions and Matt McMillan – Partner at McCullough Robertson. We will cover:\n– How the pace\, scale and sophistication of cyber-attacks have reached new levels\, making a holistic approach relevant to every level of the business.\n– How boards need to govern and manage the risk\, it’s also become a leadership skill for executives.\n– How all staff in an organisation now play a role in cyber and how they can contribute to the overall cyber protection of their organisation.\n– How to maintain relationships with customers\, partners and vendors\, which are incredibly important to protection of an organisation.\n– The critical elements to consider in the first 24 hours when an incidence occurs.

SUMMARY:Internal Fraud: Important considerations in a Hybrid Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Since COVID we’ve seen a significant shift in the way organisations function with more and more people working from home.\nFraud occurs when the right opportunity\, time and motivation occurs – the fraud Triangle – which has increased through this shift in location.\nWithout oversight employees may find that that they can get away with non-compliant activities like payroll fraud\, ghost employees/vendors or shell companies. \nOver the last twenty years\, fraud has cost the Australian economy $60B in aggregate losses so understanding the risk factors and ways to prevent fraud from occurring is crucial to businesses bottom line. \nIn this 45-minute session\, hear from Kathleen Clough\, Senior Manager at ASIC. She will cover:\n– What are the risk factors for employee fraud schemes\n– What are the signs that employees are conducting a fraud scheme\n– What to do if you suspect employee fraud – both for both leaders and everyday employees/team members\n– What actions should be taken to mitigate the risk of fraud – e.g. chain of custody procedures\, digital footprint monitoring of employee behaviour; actions from a leaders’ perspective and a team members’ perspective.
