The 2022 Federal Election is upon us. AGEC has published its Key Election Priorities based on our gender equality manifesto and what we know is needed to achieve true gender equality in Australia. For the first time AGEC has analysed the major parties policy platforms and their promises on gender equality to see how they measure up against our Key Priorities.

AGEC is an independent, non-government, not-for-profit organisation, not affiliated with any political parties or candidates. The Election Scorecard assessments have been made in good faith based on how the published party policies at the time of writing address AGEC’s published Key Election Priorities.  Qualitative judgements are exercised in the measurement of likely impact of each policy initiative, having regard to multiple criteria, the scale of commitments, and the level of supporting detail.  Voters should refer to the relevant Party’s policies before making a decision on Election Day.

Key Priorities for the 2022 Federal Election

With the announcement of its key priorities for the 2022 Federal Election, AGEC is demanding women remain a priority for the future Government.

“Despite two years of demonstrating, lobbying, and providing evidence-based solutions to government, we are yet to see the development of a comprehensive National Gender Equality Strategy that addresses the complex systemic changes required to improve the lives of Australian women,”
Coral Ross AM, Chair Australian Gender Equality Council.
